Hi All,
Thank you so much for all your prayers!   We could feel them the whole 2 weeks.  And it was an amazing 2 weeks!  Apparently all of the "challenges" were at the start, because the rest of the time flowed smoothly (well, as smoothly as things flow in India).   :)   We decided that it was about the best trip ever, and one filled with little and big miracles.  It is difficult to sum up all that we experienced.  And, in fact, it was so busy that we have trouble remembering each individual day.  In a nutshell, we:

--Played with hundreds of children and shook hands until we were sore   :)
--Rode over hundreds of miles on rough roads and encountered traffic that would blow your mind
--Encouraged dozens of pastors in rural areas that have so many problems
--Were excited to see how many of those rural churches had grown
--Greeted many people in the rural churches, some who even remembered our names
--Conducted worship services in at least a dozen churches, once in the dark with our flashlights
--Helped dedicate two sewing centers in villages which will give skills to women to help them and their families
--Went to a new slum school where the kids invited us next door to their "tent" homes (tears were shed on the way back to our hotel)
--Saw the children in the Alpha home (orphanage); several who we have known for 10 years and are now in college- - kids from the slums who are changed forever
--Ate Indian food until our mouths burned (and no one got sick once!)
--Were strengthened anew each day by His spirit, to do things we couldn't possibly do, when we were tired and depleted
--Prayed with our brothers and sisters in India, both young and old, whose faith always inspires and blesses us.

Thank you for being a part of our team!  We felt your prayers!
Blessings,  Claire
We spent the past two days in Hyderabad. Tuesday we spent most of the day with the kids at the slum school in Shimshabad. This Alpha school was just opened in August. Some of the students are from the migrant workers families, some are semi-orphans, some from rag picker families and some from beggar families. We taught them and played with them. They really enjoyed the parachute. It was heartbreaking to see how poor these children are. We brought them bananas but we wished we could do more.

Before we left, we visited a slum next to the school. One of the girls I had played with was anxious to show me her home (a tarp covered hut with a dirt floor) and introduce me to her mother who was cooking over an outside fire. I know that the statistics of that girl living till adulthood are slim, but thanks to God using Hope for Today, she will have a better chance.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with the boys and girls from the Alpha Home. We had such a good time! They are so smart. We ate lunch with them, taught them, and played with them. It was a great day!

Today we are traveling three hours north to Warrangal. We have an aggressive schedule for the rest of the week. Please pray for us.

Friends and family,

The past weekend seemed to have been 6 days long. We started Saturday by visiting an Alpha school in a village I can not pronounce, let alone spell. The children in India go to school six days a week. I believe there were 36 students but as usual the whole village joined. Claire used her puppet, Raju, to tell the story of the feeding of the 5000. The kids loved it!

After the school we went to another village to bless a church building site. We spoke to the church and were asked to pray for a crippled 17 day old baby. That was a very difficult task. Our faith was challenged as the chance of a healing is very slim. But that's when God works, so we prayed with confidence.

From there we went to a third village where OUMC has provided the funds for a roof for the church. We blessed that building. Later we had a wonderful worship service with women and children under the stars in that roof less church. It was great.

Sunday was more of the same! We started by dedicating an Alpha Vocational Training Center (a sewing school). They have 20 women of all ages waiting to learn. We shared in the worship service at that village. Ralph preached. Although he fretted over it, he did a great job. Truly led by the Spirit! We had lunch with the pastor and his wife and then went to Sherapalli to teach and play with the children. You all may remember the story from the 2006 mission trip where Becky and Claire prayed for a young boy who was very sick and feverish. Before they left, the boy was up and playing! Well sit down -- we saw that same boy yesterday! He has grown into a fine young man! Amen!

After that moving experience we went to another village for an evening worship service. There is a brand new church there but they have already built a foundation for their church building. Once again, we worshiped under the stars and the service was broadcast over loud speakers.

A friend of Susan's named Heman, who had worked with her in the US, is from the Karnool area and joined us for the day. He invited us to his parent's home for dinner. What a feast! His mother, sister and grandmother must have cooked all day. It was such an honor to be invited into their home.

Overall, we had a wonderful weekend in Karnool and the villages of Mahbumnagar. God was here! And your prayers were felt. Thanks for your continued prayers as we return to Hyderabad today.
